S&P: Europe Sector PMI Sees Highest Number of Segments in Expansion Since March 2023

05:09 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The majority of European sectors recorded an expansion in business activity in September 2026, marking the greatest number of segments seeing growth since March 2023, a survey conducted by S&P Global showed. According to the S&P Global Europe Sector PMI released Monday, 16 of the 19 monitored sectors booked an increase in output in September, compared with 13 in the previous month. The technology equipment sector again saw the sharpest increase in business activity, logging its fastest pace of output growth in five years. On the other hand, the forestry and paper products industry recorded a contraction and saw the fastest drop in production levels.
