03:39 AM EDT, 10/05/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BT Group (BT-A.L) acquired TalkTalk Telecommunications and PlatformX Communications out of administration after the troubled British broadband provider failed to find a buyer for its consumer and wholesale businesses. The telecommunications group said Monday that the deal would ensure service continuity for TalkTalk's 2.5 million customers across the UK. BT Group expects a total cash impact of 400 million pounds sterling in 2027 from the transaction, which concluded on a debt-free basis. BT Group said a regulatory review of the transaction could be launched in the coming weeks. Until then, the parties plan to operate separately. The UK's Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy, however, issued a public interest intervention notice to the country's antitrust regulator. The notice allows Nandy to safeguard the wider public interest once the regulator has reported on competition concerns. The Competition and Markets Authority is required to report back by Oct. 19.
