Hong Kong stocks open | Hang Seng Index opens 2.09% lower, insurance and biotechnology stocks fall

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on October 2, the Hang Seng Index opened 2.09% lower to 24099.73 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 1.81% to 4176.92 points; and the State-owned Enterprises Index fell 1.72% to 8078.49 points. There is no pre-market transaction data for major markets.

In terms of sectors, the hardware equipment and papermaking sector strengthened; the other support services sector rose 3.17%; the dairy sector declined (3.19%), energy storage devices fell 2.94%, the biotechnology sector fell 2.37%, the coal sector fell 2.29%, the insurance sector fell 1.72%, and the real estate investment sector fell 2.03%.

Among the constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Index, Orient Overseas International (00316) rose 0.63%, New Oriental-S (09901) rose 0.23%, and China Unicom (00762) rose 0.09% ahead; BeiGene (06160) fell 5.68%, and HSBC Holdings (00005) fell 5.51%, leading the decline.

Among the constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Technology Index, NIO - SW (09866) rose 1.96%, Tiansu Zhixin (09903) rose 0.47%, leading the way; Xiaopeng Group-W (09868), which fell 2.96%, leading the way.

Of the 95 constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Index, 4 rose and 91 fell; of the 30 constituent stocks of the Hang Seng Technology Index, 2 rose and fell 28.

Affected by the overnight decline in US financial stocks across the board and the 30-year US Treasury yield hitting a record high of 5.65% since 2002, the Hong Kong stock finance, real estate and high valuation sectors opened lower today. Hong Kong Stock Connect (Southbound) suspended trading from October 1 to October 7, and resumed on October 8.
