Listen to the news

Redwire (RDW) shares are extending gains on Oct. 1 after the NYSE-listed firm announced a partnership with Honda’s U.S.-based space development unit to build autonomous robotic systems for future commercial space stations. The deal pairs Honda’s multi-fingered robotic hand with Redwire’s flight-proven robotic arm and microgravity hardware, targeting laboratory automation in low Earth orbit.

Despite today’s surge, Redwire stock is trading at less than half its price in late May.

Significance of the Honda Deal for Redwire Stock

The Honda agreement marks a significant validation of Redwire’s specialized capabilities in space infrastructure and robotics.

As NASA and other international agencies transition operations from the International Space Station toward commercial orbital platforms, space station operators face smaller crew sizes and tighter operational windows.

By pairing Honda’s advanced dexterity with Redwire’s spaceflight systems, the combined solution will automate routine laboratory tasks, such as transferring samples, operating research equipment, and managing material movements.

In short, the partnership positions RDW stock at the core of commercial space station development, opening substantial long-term recurring revenue streams in orbital manufacturing, pharmaceutical research, and microgravity laboratory maintenance.

Is It Worth Investing in RDW Shares Today?

Even beyond the Honda deal, Redwire shares offer compelling fundamental drivers for long-term growth.

The company’s expansive portfolio, including solar array technology, space-based 3D printing, and satellite components, positions it to secure key defense and civil space contracts.

The momentum is already evident in the financials, as Redwire reported record revenue of $117 million, a 64.5% growth in backlog, and a positive gross margin of 27.8% in its latest reported quarter.

All in all, at about 8x sales, Redwire is attractive for a high-growth company positioned right at the intersection of defense technology and commercial space logistics.

Historically, RDW gains over 2% in October — a seasonal trend that further improves its near-term appeal.
