Google Appeals EU Antitrust Orders Over Data Sharing, AI Services

03:24 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google is contesting two European Union antitrust orders related to the provision of its services and data to online search rivals and artificial intelligence developers before a Luxembourg-based General Court, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a company statement. In July, Google was ordered under the Digital Markets Act to allow rivals to access certain services available through its Gemini artificial intelligence model. However, the tech giant argued that measures intended to increase competition could compromise user privacy and security, according to the report. Google's Senior Director of Competition Oliver Bethell said that the appeal is aimed at protecting user privacy, arguing that sharing their personal queries without adequate safeguards could cause irreversible harm. Google and the European Union did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
