Nvidia said on Monday that it will spend an additional 150 billion US dollars to buy back its shares. The company says this is the largest share repurchase program in history. The addition comes after the AI chip maker's board added $80 billion to its buyback program four months ago. In addition to previous repurchases, the total amount of remaining authorized repurchases reached US$235 billion. Nvidia CEO Hwang In-hoon said in a statement: “Nvidia's growth is due to the once-in-a-century platform transformation to artificial intelligence and accelerated computing.” He added, “Our strong ability to generate cash flow allows us to both invest in the technology that is driving this change and return capital to shareholders. This authorization reflects our confidence in the long-term opportunities ahead.”
