According to China South-to-North Water Transfer Group, today, the “Jianghan Shennong” TBM began excavation and departure at the assembly hole upstream of Pingdong No. 3 of the River Diversion Project. This is the 9th hard rock tunneling machine initiated by the River Diversion Project. The River Diversion Project is the first major project to be started after the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. The total length is about 194.7 kilometers. Up to now, the main tunnel has been excavated for more than 38 kilometers, and the 10 TBM clusters have completed initial excavation of 9 units, forming a “nine aircraft moving in parallel” situation.
