Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment jointly issued the “Communiqué on the Ecological Environment Status of Fisheries in China”. According to the “Communiqué”, China's fishery resources and aquatic ecological environment will remain stable in 2025. In 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized 48 monitoring stations in the National Fisheries Ecological Environment Monitoring Network to conduct fishery resource surveys in the four major sea areas and important watersheds such as the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, and carry out routine monitoring of 18 indicators of fishery water quality, sediment, and plankton in 164 important fishery waters. According to the “Communiqué”, the concentrations of zinc, lead, mercury, and arsenic in all monitored waters were superior to the evaluation criteria; the proportion of chemical oxygen demand and petroleum exceeding the standard area in important marine fishery waters decreased by 59.3% and 45.7%, respectively, while petroleum in important inland fishery waters decreased by 34.6%.
