On September 28, Xinao Fusion announced that in late September, its “Xuanlong 50U” device will achieve the hydrogen-boron fusion reaction. This is the first time that a global commercial fusion company has achieved a hydrogen-boron fusion reaction on its own device. It is also the first time that a Chinese magnetic-restrained fusion device has achieved a clean neutron-free fusion reaction with advanced fuel. Xinao Fusion said that in the future, it will commercialize hydrogen-boron fusion through a “three-step” strategy: the first step is to achieve the hydrogen-boron fusion reaction by the end of 2026, and this goal has already been achieved ahead of schedule; the second step is to light the first hydrogen boron fusion lamp in 2030. The next generation spherical ring device “Helong-2” has already started construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027; the third step is to achieve steady state, high-power generation by 2035 and enter the demonstration reactor stage.
