08:31 AM EDT, 09/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Tadawul All Share Index started the week on a high note as it ended the Sunday trading session 0.78% in the green, with investors digesting the latest geopolitical and tariff updates. Iran disclosed a peace proposal at the UN General Assembly last week, media reports said. US President Donald Trump has rejected the peace plan that included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a conclusion to the hostilities in the Middle East. Speaking of the US, the country and China have decreased tariffs on US exports. The two countries have also agreed to a further meeting in November that will focus on artificial intelligence. "The main takeaway for markets was announced before the summit: a two-month extension of the US-China trade truce, which had been set to expire in November. China's exports to the US have recovered in 2026, rising 6.1% year-on-year through the first eight months, as the trade truce has held so far despite occasional friction. On the positive side, this extension removes the threat of a renewed tariff spike before year-end," ING Chief Economist Lynn Song said. "On the downside, this extension was shorter than many market expectations, and there appeared to be no further progress on lowering trade barriers. The two countries' trade negotiators will no doubt continue to engage in the months ahead." Back at home, Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (SASE:2222), d/b/a Saudi Aramco, reportedly tapped Evercore for its plans to potentially split off its gas unit via an initial public offering, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Aramco shares closed 0.16% in the green. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Refineries Co. (SASE:2030), d/b/a Sarco, shares ticked down 0.18% as its Lawazem Industrial Advanced Co. unit entered into a deal to manufacture, deliver, paint, and install wooden doors for the Banan 1 project's villas.
