01:57 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Metzler Capital Markets restarted Talanx (TLX.F) coverage with a hold rating and price target of 125 euros, highlighting the German insurer's strong positioning in global reinsurance and retail insurance markets while flagging a potential earnings plateau beyond 2026. While viewing Talanx as holding a robust position in global reinsurance and its HDI Global subsidiary as a "relevant international corporate insurer," the research firm said Thursday that it expressed reservations over HDI Global's US growth plans as non-life and corporate insurance rates begin to soften after years of increases. "We see the risk that HDI Global could chase growth in a softening rate environment. In this context, we are also somewhat hesitant regarding its exposure to liability insurance," analysts wrote. Additionally, Metzler noted that Talanx's strategy of expanding into targeted overseas retail insurance markets allows the company to capture growth opportunities, particularly as the research firm sees a "lack of a clear competitive edge" in its domestic German operations. Against this backdrop, analysts expect the insurer to "comfortably" beat its upgraded full-year 2026 net income outlook of "significantly more than" 2.7 billion euros, projecting 2.96 billion euros in net income. However, Metzler expects net income to "develop sideways" from that elevated baseline, with net profit estimated to hold steady at 2.96 billion euros in 2027 and 3.02 billion euros in 2028.
