Legal & General Group to Trim 1,000 Jobs by Mid-2027 Under Streamlining Plans

07:03 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Legal & General Group (LGEN.L) is planning to slash 1,000 roles by mid-2027 in a bid to further streamline the organization, the British financial services group said in an emailed response to MT Newswires on Wednesday. The workforce reduction will be carried out through a voluntary-first approach in the UK, with mandatory cuts to be considered based on take-up, Bloomberg News reported the same day, citing a source familiar with the matter. The voluntary redundancy program will not include the asset management division due to its own restructuring plan. L&G added that the changes will "help us focus our resources and investment on the areas where we see the strongest opportunities for long-term growth," and that it is consulting with its unions throughout the process.
