During the investigation, NHTSA carried out vehicle owner surveys, vehicle inspections, and durability tests on the relevant vehicles. No reversing image faults were found due to damage to the wiring. The tests also showed that the relevant components are not expected to fail during a reasonable vehicle's service life. NHTSA said that the current investigation data and test results were insufficient to support further action, so it decided to close the case, but this did not constitute a determination that there were no safety flaws.
