After the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced the “Hong Kong First Five-Year Plan” on September 16, the rating agency S&P published a report stating that banks and insurance companies in Hong Kong will find new business growth opportunities in Hong Kong's first five-year economic development plan, covering deeper entry into the mainland China market, innovative fields, and more complex risk solutions. S&P Global Ratings anticipates that these greater growth opportunities may require banks and insurance companies to strengthen risk management. Will Hau, a credit analyst at S&P Global Ratings, said the bank believes that Hong Kong's policy goals to promote growth and expansion will bring opportunities to banks to finance emerging growth areas such as technological innovation, digital finance infrastructure, cross-border trade and green transformation.
