In the context of an industry where deposit interest rates continue to decline, recently, some small and medium-sized banks bucked the trend and raised deposit interest rates, which attracted market attention. On September 21, the reporter learned from WeBank customer service that since September 1, the bank has raised interest rates on some deposit products, and interest rates on 3-year deposits have been raised by 15 basis points. Currently, the bank's interest rates for 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, and 5-year deposits are 1.50%, 1.60%, 1.75%, and 1.60% respectively. Since August, many banks, including Guanli Agricultural Commercial Bank, Wuhua Huimin Village Bank, Gucheng Agricultural Commercial Bank, Baokang Agricultural Commercial Bank, and Yicheng Agricultural Commercial Bank, have raised interest rates on some deposit products. However, deposit interest rate adjustments are not a one-sided increase. Recently, quite a few small and medium-sized banks have lowered deposit interest rates. Wang Pengbo, chief analyst at Broadcom Consulting, told reporters that looking ahead, in an environment where net interest spreads are under pressure, it is difficult for a large number of banks to concentrate on following up the issuance of long-term large deposit slips, and institutional fragmentation will become mainstream in the market. Only some joint stock banks and small to medium banks facing fierce competition for deposits will sell long-term deposit slips on a small scale in line with their own capital gaps, making it difficult to fully liberalize the overall supply.
