US President Trump posted on social media that the US, Denmark, and Greenland have reached an agreement involving security matters, which “gives the US permanent control over Greenland's security and other needs.” The Danish Prime Minister's Office and the Greenland Home Rule Government said they hope to sign an agreement next week to strengthen the security of the Arctic and North Atlantic regions. Danish Prime Minister Fraser Rixen said that the agreement recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark, as well as the right of the people of Greenland to self-determination.
