Eurobattery Minerals Assessing Options Amid CEO's Fraud Conviction, Insider Dealing Suspicion

12:51 AM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eurobattery Minerals (EBM.F) said Sept. 19 that its board is evaluating appropriate steps after learning that Chief Executive Officer Roberto García Martínez was convicted of fraud in Spain and is suspected of aggravated insider dealing in Sweden. García Martínez was convicted of fraud in Spain in connection with a 2011 investment in a mining operation in Sierra Leone. Spain's Supreme Court issued a final judgment on Jan. 21, 2026, sentencing him to two years in prison, a fine, and joint and several liability for $3.46 million in damages. The prison sentence was subsequently suspended for five years, subject to conditions including making monthly payments and paying 60% of the civil liability into the court's account. Separately, the company said Sweden's Economic Crime Authority has notified García Martínez that he is suspected of three counts of aggravated insider dealing involving transactions in Eurobattery Minerals' financial instruments.
