A general station reporter learned on September 18, local time, that according to six US officials familiar with the US Department of Defense's internal casualty statistics, the number of US military deaths during the ongoing war with Iran in the Middle East actually exceeded the figures publicly disclosed by the Department of Defense. Five of these officials said that at least 22 soldiers died, and this number is 4 more than the data shown by the “Defense Casualty Analysis System” affiliated with the US Department of Defense. Another official said that 23 US soldiers have died since the US and Israel launched a joint military attack on Iran on February 28. The official noted that not all undisclosed deaths were directly linked to the conflict.
