EU Medicines Agency Panel Backs Approval for Novo's Idiopathic Short Stature Treatment

07:15 AM EDT, 09/18/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Novo Nordisk's (NOVO-B.CO) Sogroya was recommended for approval by a European Medicines Agency committee for children with idiopathic short stature, or unexplained shortness, with persistent growth disturbance. If approved, the Danish drugmaker said Friday the once-weekly Sogroya, or somapacitan, would become the first and only growth hormone drug approved for the condition in the European Union. The recommendation follows the previous positive opinion from the EMA's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use for the treatment of short stature in children born small for gestational age, as well as for Noonan Syndrome. The European Commission is expected to make a decision covering all three indications later in 2026.
