Today, the RMB exchange rate ushered in an important breakthrough. The onshore and offshore RMB spot exchange rates against the US dollar both rose above the 6.70 mark, the offshore RMB hit an intraday high of 6.6933, and the onshore RMB hit a high of 6.6964, all of which hit new highs since February 2023. Regarding the future trend of RMB this year, Wang Qing, chief macro analyst at Dongfang Jincheng, judged that the RMB exchange rate is expected to continue its steady, moderate and strong trend in the short term. Later, we should pay attention to the impact of factors such as changes in China's export growth rate and monetary policy adjustments in major overseas economies on the US dollar index. In terms of the pace of operation, Wang Qing predicts that in the future, the RMB will generally maintain a pattern of reverse fluctuation with relatively little fluctuation with the US dollar. “The RMB exchange rate core fluctuation range is expected to be between 6.7 and 6.9 before the end of the year. The trend of the RMB exchange rate throughout the year is likely to 'rise first and then stabilize'.”
