The Zhitong Finance App learned that Nokia (NOK.US) announced the expansion of cooperation with Microsoft (MSFT.US) on Thursday. The two sides will integrate their respective telecom data and analysis platforms to support network automation in multi-vendor environments. According to Nokia's announcement, this cross-vendor, cross-domain solution combines Nokia Data Suite and Microsoft Fabric. The first use cases include VoNR (5G New Air Voice) automatic assurance, radio access network (RAN) optimization, and predictive maintenance; the solution is now commercially available, and more autonomous network deployments will be launched in the future. Following the announcement, Nokia shares rose about 5% in the premarket on Thursday.
Nokia Data Suite provides out-of-the-box telecom data products with “glass box” data quality control and telecom-specific semantic modeling to ensure that AI decisions are explainable; Microsoft Fabric provides unified data platform capabilities, including OneLake storage, analysis tools, and AI-native applications such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Foundry, and Power BI. Nokia says that after integration, operators can obtain trusted data within minutes instead of previous weeks, drastically reducing the time required to prepare network data for AI applications.
Start with wireless access networks and fault management
Once integrated, AI agents can perform automated root cause analysis and closed-loop operations on the network while retaining human supervision. The solution targets multi-vendor, cross-domain environments, and supports public cloud, hybrid cloud and local deployment, making it easy for operators to meet different regulatory requirements while promoting automation; Nokia's telecom data can also be connected to enterprise, IT, and third-party data in the Microsoft Fabric.
The initial deployment focuses on three types of scenarios: one is autonomous VoNR guarantee, where AI agents discover service problems, analyze causes, and provide disposal suggestions; the second is geo-experience analysis (geo-experience), which uses AI to locate users with poor wireless performance, identify coverage and capacity hotspots, taking into account network slice users and ordinary 4G and 5G users; third, predictive maintenance and fault management. The agent combines historical and real-time data to identify problems before they affect customers. Additionally, the AI Operations Assistant can act as a copilot for network engineers, providing contextual insights, suggestions for action, and automated workflow execution.
Vivek Jaiswal, senior vice president of Nokia Autonomous Networks, said the two sides are helping the telecom network evolve from a static infrastructure to a “programmable, AI-native platform” to deliver the right data to global operators at the right time. According to ET Telecom, Microsoft's vice president of global telecommunications and media business Silvia Candiani said that operators are ready to push AI from testing to daily network operations, and this requires trusted data, strong governance, and scalable platforms.
