Construction of the Pinglu Canal began on August 28, 2022. It is the first “Tongjiang to the Sea” canal project coordinated at the national level since the founding of New China. It is built according to inland class I waterway standards and can navigate 5,000 ton ships. This canal, with an investment of more than 70 billion yuan and a total length of 134.2 kilometers, runs from the mouth of the Pingtang River in Hengzhou City, Nanning, Guangxi in the north to Luwu Town in Lingshan County, Qinzhou, and enters Beibu Gulf along the Qin River.
