The Zhitong Finance App learned that on September 15, FTSE Russell, a global index provider under the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG, hereinafter referred to as “LSEG Group”), announced that it had reached strategic cooperation with China Securities Index Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Securities Index”) and Shenzhen Securities Information Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shenzhen Securities Information”) to jointly develop and launch a new China A-share index focusing on green income.

According to information, the China Securities China A-share Green Income Index selected 100 securities of listed companies with large market capitalization from securities with relatively high green revenue in the A-share market as an index sample to reflect the overall performance of listed company securities with green businesses.

The partnership combines FTSE Russell's global index expertise and proprietary databases with China Securities Index and Shenzhen Securities Information's long-standing local market capabilities and market coverage advantages to meet investors' growing demand for transparent, investable, and sustainable development benchmarks in the Chinese stock market.

One of the core features of the index is the inclusion of the London Stock Exchange Group's green revenue data model in the compilation framework. The index will be used to measure companies' level of exposure to revenue associated with environmentally sustainable economic activities.

Fiona Bassett (Fiona Bassett), CEO of FTSE Russell, said, “We are delighted to be collaborating with China Securities Index and Shenzhen Securities Information on this important initiative. This is highly consistent with the priority direction set by the 11th Sino-British Economic and Financial Dialogue. It also highlights our long-term commitment to supporting the continued development of China's capital market, including helping investors to further seize the development opportunities of enterprises promoting the green transformation of the economy. This index lays a solid foundation for innovation to meet the growing global demand for credible, investable, and sustainable solutions.”
