Wang Xin, director of the Research Bureau of the People's Bank of China, pointed out that in recent years, the scale of direct water consumption by global computing power centers has risen rapidly. As for China specifically, the current water consumption of China's computing power center does not account for a high proportion of the country's total water consumption, but structural problems have gradually become prominent. In response to water resources issues in the development of artificial intelligence and computing power, corresponding measures can be taken in terms of computing power development itself, green finance, sustainable finance, etc.: first, strengthen water resource measurement and monitoring, data verification, and information disclosure; second, promote water-saving technology and improve the resource efficiency evaluation mechanism of green data centers; third, make better use of the resource allocation role of water prices; and fourth, play the role of green finance to support the collaborative development of artificial intelligence and water resources.
