The Zhitong Finance App learned that Honggao Securities director Liang Jiewen said that the “shell” trading has been active for two to three years since the epidemic, and the level of activity continues to be high, but the listing price of “shell” has not increased. For example, the “shell” price of motherboard companies was often priced at HK$400 million to HK$500 million, or even HK$700 million before the pandemic, leaving only about HK$100 million to HK$200 million; GEM Board's “shell” price is still low.

Liang Jiewen believes that lower shell prices are relatively attractive to those who want to buy shells, and it is expected that demand for shell purchases will continue. As for shell purchases, there have not been many price increases. The reason is that the market had a large supply of new shares before the pandemic, making it difficult to increase prices drastically with so many choices.

According to data, as early as May 2020, Liang Jiewen, then investment manager of Honggao Securities, predicted in an interview with the media that in the long run, the “shell price” of the motherboard would drop to HK$100 million to HK$200 million.
