The Zhitong Finance App learned that data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in August, the value added of industries above scale actually increased by 5.2% year on year (the growth rate of value added is the actual growth rate after deducting price factors), which is 0.7 percentage points faster than the previous month. On a month-on-month basis, in August, the value added of industries above scale increased by 0.54% over the previous month. In January-August, the value added of large-scale industries increased by 5.3% year-on-year. By category, the value added of the mining industry decreased by 1.4% year on year in August, the manufacturing industry grew by 6.1%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 4.9%.

The value added of large-scale industries increased by 5.2% in August 2026

In August, the value added of industries above scale actually increased by 5.2% year on year (the growth rate of value added is the actual growth rate after deducting price factors), 0.7 percentage points faster than the previous month. On a month-on-month basis, in August, the value added of industries above scale increased by 0.54% over the previous month. From January to August, the value added of large-scale industries increased by 5.3% year-on-year.

Looking at the three major categories, in August, the value added of the mining industry decreased by 1.4% year on year, the manufacturing industry grew by 6.1%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 4.9%.

By economic type, in August, the value added of state-owned enterprises increased by 3.0% year on year; joint-stock enterprises increased by 5.7%; enterprises invested by foreign, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan increased by 3.4%; and private enterprises increased by 3.7%.

By industry, in August, 29 of the 41 major industries maintained year-on-year growth in value added. Among them, the coal mining and washing industry decreased by 5.6%, the oil and gas extraction industry grew 6.2%, the agricultural and sideline food processing industry grew 4.3%, the alcohol, beverage and refined tea manufacturing industry grew 3.0%, the textile industry grew 3.0%, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry remained flat year-on-year, the non-metallic mineral products industry decreased by 4.1%, the ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry grew by 4.1%, the general equipment manufacturing industry grew by 11.4%, the automobile industry grew by 8.7%, the railway, The shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing grew 13.4%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry grew 9.9%, the computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing grew 17.2%, and the electricity, heat production and supply industry grew 4.9%.

By product, in August, the output of 286 products out of 626 products in large-scale industries increased year-on-year. Among them, 114.75 million tons of steel, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%; 129.08 million tons of cement, a decrease of 11.7%; 7.1 million tons of ethylene, an increase of 1.6%; 3.6 million tons of ethylene, a decrease of 2.7%; 2.697 million vehicles, a decrease of 21.9%; power generation capacity of 943.8 billion kilowatt-hours, a decrease of 0.8%; and crude oil processing volume of 59.07 million tons, a decrease of 6.9%.

In August, the product sales rate of industrial enterprises above scale was 96.8%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous year; industrial enterprises above scale achieved export delivery value of 1435.7 billion yuan, a nominal increase of 11.1% over the previous year.
