Insiders who acquired AU$2.07m worth of Eden Innovations Ltd's (ASX:EDE) stock at an average price of AU$0.12 in the past 12 months may be dismayed by the recent 21% price decline. This is not good as insiders invest based on expectations that their money will appreciate over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their original investment is now worth only AU$1.10m.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Eden Innovations

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by insider Daniel Raihani for AU$1.3m worth of shares, at about AU$0.22 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.062). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Daniel Raihani.

Daniel Raihani bought 17.71m shares over the last 12 months at an average price of AU$0.12.
