US Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that Washington has been holding direct talks with the Houthis in Yemen as the Iran-backed Houthis continue to attack Saudi Arabia and expand control over the area near the Strait of Mande. “We have also been communicating directly with the Houthis themselves,” Vance told reporters. He added that the US government also maintains contacts with Saudi Arabia and other countries affected by the conflict. He said, “We actually think the situation is under our control. The situation is changing rapidly, but we will continue to monitor to ensure that America's core interests are protected.”
