Nasdaq Down Over 200 Points; Cellectis Shares Plunge

U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite falling more than 200 points on Monday.

Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded down 0.28% to 52,425.60 while the NASDAQ dipped 0.94% to 26,085.97. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.60% to 7,611.29.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Communication services shares jumped by 2% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, information technology stocks fell by 2%.

Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) is said to be in talks to invest in Anthropic’s upcoming IPO. The chipmaker is reportedly considering investing up to $10 billion as an anchor investor.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Basel Medical Group Ltd (NASDAQ:BMGL) shares shot up 84% to $8.44.
  • Shares of Scinai Immunotherapeutics Ltd – ADR (NASDAQ:SCNI) got a boost, surging 45% to $2.40.
  • Future Fintech Group Inc (NASDAQ:FTFT) shares were also up, gaining 59% to $4.56.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Cheetah Net Supply Chain Service Inc (NASDAQ:CTNT) shares dropped 70% to $0.35.
  • Shares of Q/C Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:QCLS) were down 35% to $1.11. Q/C Technologies terminated consulting agreements with Chelsea Voss and Ocean Avenue Holdings, affiliate of Martin Shkreli.
  • Cellectis SA (NASDAQ:CLLS) was down, falling 34% to $2.05 after the company announced a strategic transformation to become an in vivo gene editing entity focused on long-lasting treatments for chronic diseases.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded up 4.2% to $104.24 while gold traded down 2.3% at $4,309.20.

Silver traded down 3.1% to $63.170 on Monday, while copper fell 2.5% to $6.3835.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly lower today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 declined 0.3%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 1.3%, London’s FTSE 100 gained 0.6%, Germany’s DAX fell 0.5%, while France’s CAC 40 dropped 0.9%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 dipping 0.81%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gaining 0.45% and China’s Shanghai Composite falling 0.07%.
