01:03 AM EDT, 09/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Fitch Ratings affirmed Slovenia's A+ long-term issuer default rating, with a stable outlook, according to a Sept. 11 release. The rating is backed by the country's accelerating gross domestic product growth alongside expectations of "broad" policy continuity from the new government. Offsetting these positive factors are Slovenia's "small" economy and high, though trending downward, public debt relative to peers. The rating agency noted that the country's GDP growth surged to a higher-than-expected 5% year over year in the second quarter, due to wage hikes, Recovery and Resilience Facility, or RRF, inflows, pre-election spending and robust exports. As a result, Fitch boosted its 2026 growth estimate to 3.7% from 2.4%, while anticipating a slowdown to 1.9% in 2027 as the RRF support expires.
