Hogs Posting Mixed Trade on Thursday

Lean hog futures are showing 27 cent gains to 25 cent losses at midday. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Thursday morning due to thin volume. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 86 cents on September 8 at $88.79.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down $2.20 in the Thursday AM report, at $91.43. The butt and belly were the only primals reported lower, with the latter down $14.01. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday at 492,000 head. That took the week to date total to 971,000 head, well shy of the same week last year due to Monday’s holiday.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $83.350, up $0.275,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $74.400, down $0.200

Feb 27 Hogs are at $76.725, down $0.250,
