LAPTOP opened and plummeted 95%: 80% investors lost money, and insider doubts resurfaced

According to WooFunai, the LAPTOP project launched by Hunter Biden tried to eradicate meme coin fraud in a decentralized manner, but created a new group of losers as soon as it went live. This experiment, which aims to reshape public perception, quickly became the focus of market controversy due to extreme unequal distribution of wealth and drastic price crashes.

The extreme fragmentation of profit and loss data revealed the weakness of the project's underlying logic. In just a few hours, nearly 80% of participants lost money. Specifically, 11,311 wallets lost less than 1,000 US dollars; 726 investors lost between 1,000 US dollars and 10,000 US dollars; 112 people lost between 10,000 US dollars and 100,000 US dollars; 2 others suffered a sharp drop of 100,000 US dollars to 1 million US dollars. In stark contrast to this, profits are monopolized by a very small number of people: only 10 wallets profit from 100,000 US dollars to 1 million US dollars, and 78 wallets profit from 10,000 to 100,000 US dollars. Together, these 88 investors earned about US$5.57 million, making the overall profit and loss situation marginally profitable, totaling approximately US$178,000. Even with nearly four-fifths of participants losing money, this 'few profite' structure maintained book balance.

According to data compiled by WooFunai, this highly concentrated revenue distribution makes the so-called 'fairness' of the project pale in the face of data, and the vast majority of ordinary investors have become liquidity providers rather than beneficiaries.

Defects in market mechanisms have further amplified valuation bubbles and abnormal positions. Although the liquidity pool is only around $48,000, LAPTOP's fully diluted valuation once soared to $144 billion. This theoretical valuation, which is not supported by actual capital, stems from severe price disturbances caused by a small number of transactions under extremely low liquidity. Subsequently, the stock price plummeted by more than 95% within half an hour, and new liquidity was often injected only after the price had dropped about 90% from its high point, causing the fate of traders at different times to enter the market. According to Bubblemaps' analysis, about 60% of the largest holders are 'newly created wallets', that is, addresses that have been recharged within the last 10 days and have no historical transaction records. Although new addresses were common in the early days of issuance, this high concentration heightened the market's doubts about its internal manipulation.

Additionally, 30% of tokens are linked to 30 pre-defined political and cryptographic results; predictions of success are destroyed; failure is used for charity; another 5% is directly donated. This complex tokenomics design did not eliminate market doubts about the fairness of 'entering a few minutes early is a world's difference'; on the contrary, it further complicated Joe Biden's efforts to differentiate it from politics-themed meme coins.

Founder Hunter Biden clearly warned buyers not to expect him or anyone to increase the value of tokens, and defined holding as an expression rather than an investment. He claimed the move was aimed at reversing the negative press surrounding the 'laptop, 'saying bluntly 'they turned the laptop into a weapon, and I turned it into a token'.

However, LAPTOP is currently facing a severe liquidity crisis. Although the token held by the founder is locked down, which avoids the risk of insider sell-off in the short term, the project still needs to significantly supplement liquidity to curb extreme price fluctuations similar to those in the early days of opening. If structural flaws cannot be addressed, the project's political metaphor will eventually give way to the harsh test of market reality.
