Top 30 Chinese mobile game publishers in terms of revenue

In August, the top seven Chinese mobile game publishers remained unchanged, and Tencent continued to be at the top of the list. Seven of the top 10 publishers achieved month-on-month revenue growth. Among them, Lilith Gaming's revenue increased 23% month-on-month, ranking among the highest increases. Meanwhile, Eagle Point Network's ranking rose 12 places to 20th place, returning to the list; Joy Games also returned to the list.

During the summer program, Tencent's “Peace Elite” and “Operation Delta” both saw an increase in revenue. “Peace Elite”'s revenue increased 18% month-on-month in August, and ranked 2nd in the iOS mobile game bestseller list in mainland China for a long time in July and August. The game launched “88 Exciting Nights” one after another, offering benefits such as free military extraction and limited appearance returns, and launched “Sword Lai” to link the appearance of costumes, guns, and vehicles, superimposing summer and Tanabata activities to drive players to return and pay. Sensor Tower data shows that since the game was launched in 2019, the cumulative revenue of iOS in mainland China has exceeded 8 billion US dollars.

“Operation Delta” focused on “Treasure Month” in August. Players can obtain benefits such as treasure maps and limited-time triangle tickets through treasure hunts, logins, and game missions. At the same time, the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Joint Collection was launched, and paid content continued to be launched while providing free rewards, driving a 27% month-on-month increase in revenue in August.

“Tasty Travels”, a subsidiary of Diandian Interactive, surpassed 46 million US dollars in global revenue in August, reaching a record high. On August 8, it once rose to 10th place in the US iOS mobile game bestseller list, the best performance of the year. Revenue growth is closely related to intensive event operations. Data from Sensor Tower's Playliner operating activity insight platform shows that, on the one hand, the game continues to extend the activity cycle through dual-track passes and limited-time card collection activities; on the other hand, it adds social competitive gameplay such as two-player cooperation and multiplayer racing, and is interspersed with mini-games and independent synthesis panels to continuously create new resource consumption scenarios and phased payment requirements. As far as Dotted Interactive is concerned, the revenue contribution of “Tasty Travels” in August has risen from 9% at the beginning of the year to 15%, and is becoming an increasingly important pillar of growth in the revenue structure of Dexter Interactive.

In August, 37 Mutual Entertainment's global revenue increased by about 15% month-on-month. This year's blockbuster game “Last Asylum: Plague” performed particularly well, with monthly overseas revenue exceeding US$25 million, an increase of 37% over the previous month, and peaked in single-day revenue on August 14. The game continues to maintain its popularity through seasonal content and limited-time appearance: the August 13 version update introduced the “Castle of Revival” exclusive appearance, and optimized the reward mechanism to add limited rewards to high-ranking alliances, further strengthen league competition and resource acquisition, and encourage players to continue to participate and pay. On the market side, the US, South Korea, and Germany together contributed about 55% of revenue, of which the US accounts for 36%, and is the main source of overseas revenue growth. With strong performance in August, “Last Asylum: Plague” surpassed the previous overseas revenue champion product “Puzzles & Survival”, steadily topping the 37th Mutual Entertainment revenue list, and ranked 7th in the global 4X strategy mobile game revenue list.

Lilith Gaming's global revenue increased 23% month-on-month in August, and the revenue of its top 3 products all increased. Among them, the pet tower defense mobile game “Clash of Critters” published by Farlight Games became the biggest highlight. The game hit the Japanese market at the end of July, and was continuously ranked in the top 5 iOS mobile game download lists in Japan from August 1 to 4. Combined with the excellent performance of the US market, “Clash of Critters” has surpassed “The Awakening of Nations” to become Lilith's highest-grossing product in August. In terms of gameplay, the game focuses on collecting and raising pets, combining random rewards with marbles, vertical tower defense, and camp construction and looting similar to “Coin Master” to link combat, growth, and resource acquisition. For Lilith, the game also allowed it to further expand the field of casual games in addition to medium to heavy games.

The overall revenue of its “Happy and Fun” has fluctuated upward since this year. On August 10, a new version of “Little Little Moe Companion” was launched, adding gameplay with pets, and launching activities such as “Let's Go to the Beach” and “Tanabata Plan” around summer and Tanabata, bringing the game's monthly revenue to a record high. This long-life casual mobile game is re-unleashing user value and continuously breaking through growth bottlenecks through continuous content updates, holiday node operation, and sophisticated commercialization.

After the launch of the new season of “Force of Nature” on August 20, the game jumped to 2nd place in the bestseller list, and has remained stable in the top 4 for the whole month since then. At the same time as the new season, two major summoning events, “Liujing Immortal” and “Liujing Fragrance Song,” will be launched to increase the appeal of payment with mechanisms such as half-price summon and limited-time redemption, and include login benefits such as “gentle gifts.” The 5th anniversary celebration went live on August 30, continuing the popularity of the season through events such as anniversary chests, free arenas, and match rewards.

Tencent's “Fearless Contract: Operation Source Energy” and “League of Legends Mobile Game” both launched new versions and events around the anniversary in August, increasing player participation and payment popularity through exclusive content such as skins, items, and benefits. “Fearless Pact: Operation Source Energy” national service iOS revenue increased 62% month-on-month, breaking $45 million in monthly revenue, a record high; “League of Legends Mobile Game” revenue increased 86% month-on-month, further enriching the revenue growth sources for Tencent's leading products.

“Tomorrow's Ark”'s iOS revenue in mainland China surged more than 150% month-on-month in August, and continued to rank 3rd in the iOS game bestseller list from August 1 to 2. On August 1, the game's Summer Carnival began. The core event “Till the Earth Becomes a Lime” launched multi-stage levels, and combined quests, event stores, and reward redemptions to encourage players to participate; limited visits to “Rut and Wind's Home” added a limited agent “Wish Angelina”, which also encouraged card draws and spending through content such as sign-in, wishing walls, and summer gift packs. In late August, “Leave the Sun Behind” returned for a limited time, and the permanent gameplay “Holographic Battle Matrix” opened simultaneously, continuing to add game content for the month. The concentrated launch of multiple events led to revenue growth, and also promoted the “Tomorrow's Ark” monthly bestseller ranking to return to 18th place on the list.
