Two people familiar with the matter said that the US Department of Justice is investigating Nvidia's deal with AI chip manufacturer Groq last year to determine whether Nvidia is trying to evade antitrust scrutiny. Groq described the deal at the time as a “non-exclusive license agreement” that would allow Nvidia to use Groq's chips built specifically for artificial intelligence computing. As part of the agreement, Groq CEO Jonathan Ross and Chief Operating Officer Sonny Madera joined Nvidia.
