AeroVironment: Fiscal Q1 Earnings Snapshot

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — AeroVironment Inc. (AVAV) on Wednesday reported a loss of $5.1 million in its fiscal first quarter.

The Arlington, Virginia-based company said it had a loss of 10 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 59 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 22 cents per share.

The maker of unmanned aircrafts posted revenue of $480.5 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $467.9 million.

AeroVironment expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.02 to $3.34 per share, with revenue in the range of $2.13 billion to $2.23 billion.

AeroVironment shares have decreased 42% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $140.80, a decrease of 39% in the last 12 months.
