Palantir (PLTR) has consistently delivered exceptional financial results, with its revenue growth rate accelerating each quarter, reflecting overwhelming demand for its AI Platform (AIP) and unprecedented commercial growth in the U.S. market. The company’s second-quarter performance was no different, reflecting solid underlying growth, especially in the commercial market, where adoption of its AI offering is increasing rapidly.
Following Palantir’s blockbuster earnings and upward revised outlook, the market has responded aggressively, pushing the shares more than 39% higher since the company released its second-quarter results last month. While Palantir’s underlying business remains strong, the notable rally has raised valuation concerns.
Palantir delivered 93% year-over-year (YoY) revenue growth in Q2, its strongest growth rate to date. Importantly, growth is accelerating despite a significantly larger revenue base, indicating that demand for the company’s AIP continues to expand at scale.
Palantir revenue in the U.S. market more than doubled YoY to $1.57 billion and now represents more than 81% of total revenue. Within the U.S. market, commercial revenue increased 149% YoY and 28% sequentially to $764 million.
Contract activity points to continued strength in demand. Palantir secured $2.34 billion of total commercial contract value (TCV) during the quarter, up 118% YoY. U.S. commercial TCV was again strong at $2.13 billion, representing 153% YoY growth. Over the trailing 12 months, U.S. commercial TCV reached $5.96 billion, up 117%.
Palantir’s growing customer base is another growth catalyst and supports its investment case. It ended the quarter with 653 U.S. commercial customers, up 35% YoY and 6% sequentially. At the same time, existing customers are increasing their spending. Trailing 12-month revenue from the top 20 customers rose 67% YoY to approximately $124 million per customer, indicating meaningful expansion within the existing customer base.
Government demand remains another major contributor, with U.S. government revenue increasing 90% YoY and 18% sequentially.
Palantir's backlog is expanding rapidly, offering solid visibility into future revenue. Its total remaining deal value reached $13.1 billion at the end of the second quarter, up 83% YoY and 11% sequentially. Remaining performance obligations (RPO) grew even faster, reaching $4.9 billion, an increase of 103% YoY and 10% sequentially.
The growth in contracted business is significant and indicates that Palantir is likely to deliver strong revenue ahead.
Management's updated guidance further reflects the strength of underlying demand. Palantir raised its full-year U.S. commercial revenue guidance to more than $3.42 billion, implying growth of at least 134%, compared with its previous expectation of $3.22 billion, or 120% growth.
The company also raised its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint to $8.15 billion, representing approximately 82% YoY growth, versus the previous range of $7.65–$7.66 billion.
Palantir’s expanding backlog, accelerating RPO, and higher revenue guidance suggest that demand remains stronger than previously anticipated and that Palantir is entering the remainder of 2026 with increased revenue visibility.
Palantir’s operating results are impressive. Revenue is growing at an exceptional rate, commercial bookings are accelerating, customer spending is increasing, and management has raised its outlook substantially.
The problem is that its valuation already reflects this strength. At a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of approximately 93.6x, Palantir is trading at a significant premium, not only relative to its peers but also compared to leading mega-cap technology firms directly benefiting from the buildout of global AI infrastructure.
The fundamental outlook for Palantir remains strong. U.S. revenue growth is accelerating, commercial bookings are increasing, customer spending continues to rise, and backlog is expanding. Management’s significant increase in guidance further supports the view that underlying demand remains robust.
However, the investment risk is primarily valuation. Palantir remains a high-quality growth company, but the stock’s elevated valuation and sharp post-earnings rally leave less room for further upside and increase downside sensitivity.
For investors who benefited from Palantir’s post-earnings rally, taking profits could be a smart move.
Analysts maintain a “Moderate Buy” consensus rating on PLTR stock.
