Anthropic is said to be withdrawing from the IT Industry Council, an industry advocacy organization, because ITI is calling for the cancellation of three US chip export control laws. Last week, ITI sent a letter to the US Senate and House Armed Services Committee hoping to remove the Artificial Intelligence Regulation Act, the Chip Security Act, and the MATCH Act from the annual defense policy bill to be reviewed by Congress. All three bills received strong support from the House Foreign Affairs Committee and were included in the Senate Defense Authorization Act management plan with technical support from the White House. Anthropic is also a company that supports these three bills, so it is the exact opposite of ITI's position.
