Synhelion has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Morocco with the aim to develop a large-scale commercial synthetic fuel plant in the country’s southern Tan-Tan province.
The facility is planned to produce 100,000 tons of renewable fuel per year. Synhelion has already secured a land reservation for the project site and established a branch, Synhelion Morocco – concrete steps toward implementation.
The MoU lays the foundation for the development of a renewable synthetic fuel plant with a planned capacity of 100,000 tons per year.
Morocco’s Tan-Tan province in the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun, where the site for the plant has already been reserved, offers a promising location for the project, due to its renewable energy resources and favorable conditions for establishing a renewable fuel value chain.
“This MoU reflects Morocco’s ambition to attract high-impact investments that combine innovation, sustainability and industrial development.
“By building on the strong renewable energy potential of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, this project has the potential to contribute to the emergence of new value chains, create local economic opportunities and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a competitive platform for green industry.
“We welcome Synhelion’s commitment to Morocco and look forward to supporting the project as it moves toward its next stages of development,” said Karim Zidane, minister of investment, convergence and evaluation of public policies.
“Morocco’s exceptional renewable energy resources and its clear industrial strategy make it an ideal location for scaling our synthetic fuel technology.
“With the MoU signed, the land reservation secured, and our branch in place, we are moving from evaluation to execution and toward our first commercial-scale plant in the region.
