The Zhitong Finance App learned that Brookfield Asset Management (BAM.US) has received an investment commitment of 1 billion US dollars from the UK Nuclear Liabilities Fund (Nuclear Liabilities Fund), which will be used for many of its investment strategies. The New York-based asset manager recently formed a new business unit focused on packaging and selling multi-asset portfolios.
The funds will be managed by Brookfield's Investment Solutions Group (Investment Solutions Group). The division was established last year and mainly targets institutional investors, private wealth clients and family offices. According to a statement, Brookfield plans to allocate this capital to strategic areas such as infrastructure, energy, private equity, real estate, and private equity through a combination of fund investment, direct investment, and co-investment.
The original purpose of the establishment of the UK Nuclear Energy Debt Fund was to provide financial guarantees for future decommissioning of nuclear power plants. As of March 2025, the fund's assets under management were approximately £20.7 billion (US$28 billion). Brookfield anticipates continuing to reinvest the profits generated by this portfolio into new opportunities in the future.
Brookfield's Investment Solutions Group is chaired by Howard Marks (Howard Marks) of Oaktree Capital (Oaktree) and headed by Alper Daglioglu (Alper Daglioglu), a former Morgan Stanley veteran. The department does not simply sell a single fund to investors, but rather integrates various investment products from Brookfield's vast business network and customizes them into a comprehensive investment portfolio.
“The Nuclear Energy Debt Fund has an extremely long-term investment vision, which provides us with an opportunity to invest in different ways,” Daglioglu said in a statement.
