On the morning of September 8, the 22nd High Level Meeting of Senior Officials of Asian Regional Coast Guard Agencies opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. 124 representatives from maritime law enforcement agencies from 23 countries, including South Korea, Singapore, and Vietnam, and 2 international organizations from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the “Asian Regional Anti-Piracy and Armed Robbery Cooperation Agreement” Information Sharing Center attended the conference. This conference is the first pan-Asia-Pacific multilateral international conference hosted by the China Maritime Police. At this conference, all parties will conduct further in-depth discussions on the prevention and suppression of illegal activities at sea, maritime search and rescue, marine ecological environment protection, information sharing, joint exercises, and capacity building. The conference will also focus on non-traditional maritime safety, and hold thematic discussions and exchanges on the two major themes of “Implementing the Global Security Initiative” and “Enforcement of Marine Carbon Sinks”. The aim is to work with all parties to promote regional and global ocean governance, jointly address maritime risks and challenges, and promote the building of a community of maritime destiny.
