The LZ dark matter detector, an underground research facility located in Sanford, South Dakota, USA, is currently the largest direct dark matter detection project in the world, with the joint participation of 39 institutions. While sorting through a total of 220 days of effective operation data from March 2023 to April 2024, the research team discovered an incident that could be dark matter particles but could not be explained using known background. The results were recently presented at the TeV Particle Astrophysics Conference held in Japan, and the paper has been submitted to the “Physics Review Express”.
