01:47 AM EDT, 09/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Novartis (NOVN.SW) said that pelacarsen failed to meet the primary endpoint of a phase 3 trial that involves patients with established cardiovascular disease and elevated lipoprotein (a), or Lp(a). The pharmaceutical company said on Sept. 4 that the Lp(a)horizon study found that pelacarsen did not reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and strokes, among others, compared with placebo. However, the company noted that pelacarsen decreased Lp(a) levels in patients receiving guideline-directed treatments.
