Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned the US attacks on Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, calling them war crimes, and warned Washington and its allies to take responsibility for the consequences caused by the continued attacks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that such attacks are part of America's ongoing military operations against Iran, including a maritime blockade and economic war. The statement said that these attacks violate Article 2 (4) of the Charter of the United Nations and pose a clear threat to international peace and the safety of commercial shipping. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran is determined to defend its sovereignty and national interests and resist what it calls American “national terrorism” and acts of aggression, including attacks on commercial shipping. Tehran warned that Washington and its allies need to take responsibility for the consequences of any continued US military action in the region.
