French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said on Friday that before Europe made a decision in October on whether to allow Tesla to implement fully automated driving technology, France had already carried out related vehicle tests. Tabarot said, “This technology is expected to bring improvements in many areas. This is my original intention in promoting testing. It is not a gimmick, but to improve safety levels and reduce the number of accidents in the country.” He mentioned the speed of the vehicle and related problems caused by the drivers' use of mobile phones. Tabarot had talks with Tesla's head Elon Musk earlier this week.
