Strategy Inc (NASDAQ:MSTR) shares are trading higher by more than 13% on Thursday, probably as Bitcoin prices hit $80,000 amid lower yields and a weaker dollar.
Fed Gov. Christopher Waller’s comments that he is inclined to support holding interest rates steady may have further supported the speculative asset by easing concerns about tighter monetary policy and improving risk appetite.
• Strategy shares are climbing with conviction. Why is MSTR stock up today?
Today, the company and Google Cloud launched the AI Transformation Forum, a seven-city U.S. executive series focused on helping organizations scale AI with trusted data, governance and business context.
Events will be held this fall in New York City; Boston; Washington, D.C.; Sunnyvale, California; Chicago; Dallas and Atlanta for senior data, IT and AI leaders.
The forums will address enterprise data, semantic layers, AI governance, token and compute efficiency, and strategies for moving AI from pilots to production.
Technically, the stock is pressing into a key long-term inflection area: it’s trading right on top of its 200-day simple moving average ($139.32), a level that often acts like a "line in the sand" for trend followers. It’s also trading 23.1% above the 20-day SMA ($113.11) and 36.2% above the 50-day SMA ($102.24), which shows the recent rebound has been forceful.
Momentum looks improved using MACD as the primary lens: MACD is above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which points to easing downside pressure versus the prior downswing. That said, the longer-term backdrop still carries baggage because the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA (a Death Cross that formed in October 2025), so bulls typically want to see sustained trade above the 200-day before calling it a full trend reset.
Strategy is outperforming its sector sharply today, up 13.13% versus a 1.15% gain for Technology — an 11.98%-point gap that puts the move well beyond what you’d expect from simple sector drift. Technology ranks third out of 11 sectors today, so the tape is supportive, but Strategy is still doing the heavy lifting on its own.
Zooming out, the sector has been choppy: down 0.68% over the past 30 days but up 2.96% over the past 90 days, which fits a "two steps forward, one step back" trend. In that context, Strategy’s ability to reclaim the 200-day area matters because it can shift the conversation from "bounce" to "trend repair" if it holds.
Looking further out, the next major catalyst for the stock arrives with the Oct. 29 (estimated) earnings report.

Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Strategy, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
The Verdict: Strategy’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a momentum-challenged setup that’s trying to improve. For longer-term bulls, follow-through above the 200-day area is the key "prove it" step that could start to lift that momentum profile.
Significance: Because Strategy carries such a heavy weight in these funds, any significant inflows or outflows for these ETFs will likely force automatic buying or selling of the stock.
