At the International Conference on Deep Space Exploration that opened today, Hou Zengqian, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of the Tianzhou-3 mission, explained that the Tianzhou-3 mission has entered the initial prototype development stage, and various technical research and scientific preparations are progressing simultaneously. Tianzhou-3 is scheduled to be launched around 2028 and return to Earth with Martian samples around 2031. It is expected to be the first Mars sampling and return mission in human history. This mission will promote the development of multiple disciplines such as astrobiology and planetary geology, and also contribute to human understanding of Mars and exploration of extraterrestrial life.
