TotalEnergies Acquires 40% Interest in Namibia's Mopane Discovery from Galp

03:03 AM EDT, 09/03/2026 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE.L, TTE.PA) completed the acquisition of a 40% stake in Namibia's Mopane discovery, or the PEL83 license, from Galp Energia (GALP.LS). Following the acquisition, the French energy giant became operator of the project, according to a Thursday filing. As part of the deal, announced in December 2025, Galp also purchased a 10% participating interest in the Venus discovery, or the PEL56 license, and a 9.39% stake in the PEL91 license from TotalEnergies.
