Today, the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Port Economic Cooperation Center was officially inaugurated in Tianjin. The center focuses on the three major areas of port customs clearance innovation, maritime facilitation cooperation, and port and shipping industry gathering to further enhance the efficiency and level of intelligent customs clearance supervision for agricultural and food products in SCO countries; provide all-weather policy advice, approval guidance, assistance and coordination services for ships traveling to and from SCO countries; promote port and shipping infrastructure and operation management technology to “go global”, and drive a number of projects to and from the port and shipping industry cluster area in Tianjin's Binhai New Area. Tianjin will rely on the center to continue deepening practical cooperation with SCO countries in various fields. Recently, the focus has been on deepening collaboration in the fields of inspection and quarantine, electronic certificate network inspection, etc., to promote the extension of port cooperation from trade facilitation to the entire investment, industry and financial chain; in the medium to long term, it will continue to be closely tied to the SCO and the joint construction of a “Belt and Road” port cooperation service network, and coordinate the two major cooperation platforms for the green industry and digital economy, and the two major cooperation centers for vocational education and port economy, and implement a number of key demonstration cooperation projects.
