According to Omdia's latest analysis, the Latin American smartphone market declined 12% year over year to 30.3 million units in the second quarter of 2026. The rise in DRAM and NAND costs was transmitted to retail prices, and the impact on demand for entry-level devices was the heaviest. In the first quarter, suppliers and channel providers mitigated this impact through pre-shipment and inventory buffers. These protections weakened in the second quarter, further exposing pressure on the lower end of the market, while the mid-tier, high-end and flagship segments remained relatively resilient.
