Iran's central bank governor Abdul Nasser Hemati said on Tuesday that Iran has sufficient foreign exchange to guarantee import payments for essential goods, and is ready to invest up to 2 billion US dollars in stable riyals into the market. Hemati said that the central bank has multiple sources of foreign exchange, including oil and non-oil export revenues, as well as foreign exchange reserves that have not been frozen by sanctions. He said that since the Iranian New Year, more than 18 billion US dollars have been invested to pay for imported goods such as food, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, and factory raw materials. He revealed that the central bank had invested 500 million US dollars in the foreign exchange market last week.
